The Rise

The rise before the fall

It’s ironic

How you know it’s coming

Yet there’s no way you can

Prepare

For it

Kind of like the

Drop at the

Top of a roller coaster

So much build-up

Adrenaline

Fear

Excitement

Anguish

“What was I thinking?”

“Why am I here?”

“What convinced me to do this?”

“It won’t be that bad...right?”

These are the thoughts

Passing through your mind

As you climb

Down

The depths of your heart

Where the truth lies

The truth that we tend to ignore

The light

That we try to snuff out

These moments never last long

We only live for the good thoughts

Good thoughts that lead to good

Moments

Memories

Memories we want to keep

The ascent quickly resumes

The truthful thoughts

Soon forgotten

Excitement

Adrenaline

Soon regain control

This is the thrill

The high we thrive from

The sheer uncertainty of what

You’ll feel

Next

As you scale up the heights

Of pure bliss

Time begins to slow down

Your scrambled mind becomes clear

Then scrambled

Again

And repeat

Time suddenly speeds up

Faster than you anticipated

What seemed pleasurable

Becomes your worst fear

What you pushed off

Becomes unavoidable

Your heart begins to speak again

Louder and louder

Screaming

No escape

There is only one way this will end

Tipping over the edge

The climax

The peace before

The storm that follows

The drop followed by

The crash

One direction this all leads

Down

The Rise

Before

The Fall

To be continued….
